·         Contains Ceftriaxone 1g & Sulbactam 500mg

·         Broad spectrum of activity

·         Combined action of bactericidal Ceftriaxone and beta-lactamase inhibitor Sulbactam.

·         Beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillin derivatives (amoxicillin, ampicillin, doxicicllin) derive their efficacy from the 4-atom amino ring beta lactam moiety.

·         Beta-lactamases are enzymes produced by some resistant bacteria that destroy the beta lactam ring.

·         Extended spectrum beta-lactam cephalosporins are also affected by extended spectrum beta lactamases (ESBL)

·         Syceph SB is a unique combination of Ceftriaxone & Sulbactam

·         Sulbactam (a beta-lactamase inhibitor) protects the beta lactam ring of Ceftriaxone

·         This allows the antibiotic to work effectively

·         Unlike some beta-lactamase inhibitors (clavulanic acid), it has a broader spectrum

of activity and does not induce the production of beta-lactamases
